Fast Equalization Method of Automotive Lithium-Ion Battery

Abstract

In order to solve the problem of energy inconsistency in the operation of electric vehicle battery, a doublelayer equilibrium topology structure was designed based on threewinding transformer, which could realize the energy transfer between arbitrary monomer and monomer, monomer and partial monomer, partial monomer and monomer, and monomer and whole. Comparing the state of charge (SOC) between batteries and the heat production during operation, the equilibrium control strategies of different states were determined. Using MATLAB/Simulink software, the model was built and the simulation was conducted. Experiments show that the balanced method can effectively shorten the balancing time and alleviate the inconsistency problem between batteries. Compared with the traditional transformer balancing method, the balancing time required for standing, charging and discharging shortens by 67.7%, 66.12% and 30.05% respectively.
