Flow Morphology and Mode inside Flow Focusing/Blurring Nozzle

Abstract

The experimental platform of flow focusing/blurring nozzle and the numerical model of internal gas-liquid flow were established, and the gas-liquid flow morphology and mode inside the nozzle were studied at room temperature. The results show that the flow focusing, transition and blurring modes exist in the flow focusing/blurring nozzle. Under different working conditions, the changes of gas-liquid flow morphology and flow mode are related to the gas-liquid interaction and flow vortex inside the nozzle. In this experiment, the flow rate of gas phase is 10-100 L/min, the flow rate of liquid phase is 0.1-1 L/min, the distance between pipe holes is 1-5 mm, the diameter of nozzle holes is 3-7 mm, and the length of nozzle holes is 5-15 mm. According to the experiment, the flow focusing mode mainly occurs under the conditions of small liquid and gas flow rate, and the flow blurring mode mainly occurs under the conditions of small liquid flow rate and large gas flow rate. The increase of distance between pipe holes and nozzle hole diameter is not conducive to the flow blurring mode inside the nozzle. Although the increase of nozzle hole length is conducive to the flow blurring mode, the effect is relatively little.
