Abstract

A three-dimensional model of engine cylinder and intake and exhaust pipes was established with ProE software and the initial pressure and temperature of combustion model were determined with Boost software. Then a combustion model was established by importing the built model and initial conditions into the Converge software. The combustion states of M0 (normal intake air, 0 Miller degree) and M-50 (Miller cycle, -50 Miller degree) were calculated and the influences of Miller cycle on the flow and combustion inside cylinder were further analyzed. Through the comparison of flow field, it was found that the formation of uniform mixture became easier for M0 during the compression process and for M-50 in the early stage of combustion at 1 000 r/min. According to the analysis of turbulent kinetic energy, the region of high turbulent kinetic energy was the same as the spray region. The turbulent kinetic energy during combustion was mainly affected by the fuel beam diffusion.
