Influences of Lubricant and Excess Air Coefficient on Particulate Matter Emission of GDI Engine Fueled with Gasoline-Methanol Blends

Abstract

The influences of lubricant and different excess air coefficients on engine particulate matter emission was studied on a T-GDI engine by adding 2% and 4% volume fraction of lubricant into 97# gasoline and methanol gasoline. The results show that the particulate number (PN) concentration, the total number concentration, the particulate mass (PM) concentration and the total particulate mass concentration decrease and the influences of oil consumption and excess air coefficient on exhaust particle concentration decrease gradually with the increase of methanol proportion. The exhaust particle concentration significantly increases with the increase of mixing volume fraction of lubricant and the decrease of excess air coefficient. In addition, the PN concentration lies in the nuclear area and the PM concentration lies in the accumulation and coarse area.
