Development of AFR Accurate Controller Based on Oxygen Sensor Model

Abstract

In order to avoid the unstable performance of oxygen sensor due to bad environment or longtime working, the idea of replacing oxygen sensor with algorithm model was put forward and then the controller for the precise control of airfuel ratio(AFR) was designed. Under the environment of Matlab/Simulink, the AFR controller model was established including AFR calculating module, model scheduling module and PI control module. The signal of oxygen sensor was calculated in oxygen sensor model according to the AFR calculated by the AFR calculating model and was then fed back to the PI controller to correct the fuelinjection quantity. The results show that the control system can accurately control the airfuel ratio within the range of 14.31-15.01 without using an oxygen sensor. Compared with the original electrically controlled engine with oxygen sensor, the emission performance is similar.
