Abstract

To solve the problem of predicting the thermal fatigue life of A356-T6 cast aluminum alloy cylinder heads, tensile performance tests, low cycle fatigue tests, creep tests, and thermal fatigue tests were carried out under the sampling of engine cylinder head body. The material parameters required for the Sehitoglu model calculation were obtained, and the improved Sehitoglu model for predicting thermal fatigue life was proposed by considering the influence of average stress and temperature on material properties. By comparing the predicted results with those of the Sehitoglu model, the improved Sehitoglu model had a prediction life within three times the error band, making it more suitable for predicting the thermal fatigue life of engine cylinder heads.
