The heat exchange efficiency and temperature
distribution of liquid-cooling plate inside the lithium
battery pack are the key factors determining the temperature control of battery
cells inside the pack and the difference in temperature. Therefore, the
structural design and layout of liquid-cooling plate
has always been the most critical object in the development of battery thermal
management system. A new high-efficiency heat exchange
oblique-fin-typed liquid-cooling plate structure was proposed to be suitable for the liquid
cooling system in lithium battery pack, and the orthogonal test method was used
to study the structure with full characteristic structural parameters. The
maximum battery surface temperature, the temperature difference between the
battery surface and the liquid-cooling plate pressure
drop were selected as response quantities. The structural parameter that was
the most sensitive to the amount of response, the height of oblique fin, was
thus obtained by polar analysis. Finally, the numerical simulation and
performance evaluation criteria(PEC) were applied to fully investigate and
analyze the effects of oblique fin height and inlet Reynolds number on the
overall thermal performance of liquid-cooling plate.
The results show that increasing the oblique fin structure in the traditional
DC channel can effectively cause disturbed flow and increase the effective
convective heat exchange area of liquid-cooling plate,
which greatly improves the heat exchange performance of liquid-cooling plate. Compared to the traditional DC channel liquid-cooling plates, higher oblique fins tend to bring a certain amount
of pressure drop loss, but its excellent heat dissipation performance can
compensate for the extra loss.
