Abstract

To better understand the influence of pulse intake parameters on the performance of asymmetric twin-scroll turbine (ATST), ANSYS CFX software was applied to perform unsteady numerical calculation of ATST under different pulse frequency and amplitude intake conditions. The influence of intake pulse frequency and amplitude on ATST performance was explored, and the influences of pulse frequency and amplitude on volute outlet parameters, rotor inlet parameters and internal flow field were further analyzed. The research results show that different pulse frequencies cause certain differences in turbine performance parameters, but have little impact on the average performance during the cycle. The pulse amplitude has great influence on the transient and average performance of ATST. The average flow parameter and efficiency corresponding to the larger pulse amplitude decrease by 5.69% and 0.48% respectively, and the incidence angle at the rotor inlet and the total pressure loss coefficient at the volute outlet obviously increase.

Key words

pulse frequency / pulse amplitude / asymmetric twin-scroll turbine / incidence angle / total pressure loss coefficient
