Abstract

Aiming at the problem of strong unsteady disturbance between impeller and diffuser of high-load and small-size centrifugal compressor, numerical analysis of transonic centrifugal compressor with vane diffuser was carried out by Numeca software. Based on the nonlinear harmonic method, the unsteady flow characteristics of impeller-diffuser interaction were studied, and the unsteady flow theory was discussed. The rationality of numerical setting was verified by the test results. The difference of compressor internal flow field was discussed by comparing the calculation results of steady and nonlinear harmonic method. The unsteady flow of compressor impeller and the vane diffuser were analyzed in detail by selecting typical working conditions. The results show that the performance of nonlinear harmonic method is different from that of steady calculation near the stall point. There is significant interaction between impeller and diffuser, including potential interference between impeller and diffuser and significant unsteady influence of impeller wake on diffuser flow. With the deterioration of working condition, the outlet circumferential velocity of impeller increases, and a new phenomenon of high speed circulation and even closed water ring appears in the bladeless zone, which severely blocks the flow of impeller and diffuser.
