Abstract

Aiming at the precise control of engine cooling in the electrified cooling system, an engine thermal management model was established by using GT-Suite simulation platform based on the relevant test data of engine bench, and then the vehicle thermal management model was prepared by coupling with the vehicle model. According to the characteristics of the cooling system, a thermal management control model based on precise control of engine cooling was proposed. The model-in-the-loop method was used to verify the feasibility of model and the scheme of electronic water pump and thermal management module and the scheme of mechanical water pump and thermal management module were compared and analyzed by the WLTC and RDE cycle tests. The results show that the electronic water pump can realize the zero-flow control of cooling system in the first 200 s of warm-up phase so as to increase the temperature of cylinder head rapidly and hence reduce the fuel consumption by about 0.2% in the WLTC cycle. In the RDE cycle, the scheme of electronic water pump and thermal management module can make the opening of thermal management module change stably, which can effectively reduce the oscillation of engine water temperature and improve the service life of thermal management module.
