Abstract

Based on the rapid ash accumulation method of lubricating oil blending, the effects of ash on  back pressure of GPF and engine power performance were studied on an engine bench. The filtration efficiency of  GPF was analyzed according to the WLTC and RDE test. The results show that the ash deposit will increase the exhaust back pressure and decrease the engine power output. The 60 g ash deposit will increase the back pressure by 8.8 kPa at most and decease the torque by 3.7 N·m. The contribution rate of PN emission in the first stage of WLTC test is larger than 90%, and a small amount of ash in WLTC and RDE conditions can significantly improve the filtration efficiency of GPF to PN. The filtration efficiency can be up to 96.6% with 3 g ash deposit. Accordingly, the filtration efficiency increases with the increase of ash deposit and the PN filtration efficiency can reach 99.6% with 60 g ash sample.
