Abstract

The numerical calculation was carried out by using the CFD software CONVERGE. The influence of combustion chamber structural parameters on the emission characteristics of common rail diesel engine was studied and analyzed. The sensitivity of structural parameters to the emission performance of the diesel engine was also analyzed. The results show that the aperture ratio has the greatest effect on NOx emission, the opening angle is the key parameter affecting the soot emission, and the TDC clearance and the radius of bowl bottom arc are the secondary factors affecting the emission. Decreasing the aperture ratio properly and increasing the opening angle can reduce the soot and NOx emissions. And the lowest NOx emission can be obtained when the radius of bowl bottom arc is 15 mm or the TDC clearance is 6.5 mm. The radius of bowl bottom arc and the TDC clearance have slight influence on soot emission.
