Abstract

In order to study the influence of coal-to-oil on the combustion and emission performance of diesel engines, the simulation experiment of burning F-T coaltooil was conducted through Converge software on a 1.46 L direct-injection high-pressure common rail diesel engine, and was compared with that of petrochemical diesel. The results show that the effective power drop of F-T coal-to-oil is small at low speed, but increases with the increase of engine speed. The in-cylinder pressure of F-T coal-to-oil is lower than that of ordinary diesel, and the heat release timing of F-T coal-to-oil starts earlier. The peak value of heat release is lower due to the small fuel injection amount in the premix stage, and is higher than that of ordinary diesel in the diffusion combustion stage. Compared with diesel, the soot and NOx emissions of F-T coal-to-oil reduced by 42% and 31% respectively.
