Abstract

During the development process of combustion system for a China Ⅵ diesel engine, the optimal matching of combustion chamber with injector was studied based on the numerical simulation. Three combustion chambers were individually matched with four injectors. The simulation results show that the soot emission and ISFC reduce significantly with the increase of tip protrusion, but the optimal tip protrusions are different under different conditions. The comprehensive performance of 900 mL/min injector is better than that of 860 mL/min injector. Each combustion chamber has an optimal matching injector. According to the verification results of the three matching schemes, the effects of tip protrusion and injector flow rate on fuel consumption and soot emission are similar between the calculation and test and the influence of chamber shape also coincides with the measurement.
