Abstract

Taking the cooling system of a certain vehicle as the research object, the joint control strategy of electronic fan and electronic thermostat was studied. The onedimensional simulation model of engine cooling system was established by using GT-COOL software. The target coolant temperature was set 95 ℃ according to the influences of coolant temperature on engine specific fuel consumption. Then the electronic fan speed MAP was established by studying the matching research of electronic fan, radiator and engine. Based on the electronic fan speed MAP, the joint control strategy of electronic fan and electronic thermostat was built, and the effects of joint control strategy on fan power consumption were further studied under 24 types of working conditions. The results showed that the joint control strategy could accurately control the fan speed and reduce the fan power consumption. After introducing electronic fan speed MAP, the control accuracy of coolant temperature for the cooling system greatly improved and the response speed accelerated. Under the working conditions of 3000 r/min and 50% load, the temperature fluctuation reduced by 9.3 ℃ and the adaption time shortened by 76 seconds.
