Abstract

The vibration and noise of oil sump for a fourcylinder diesel engine were predicted and a variety of structural optimization schemes were proposed to study the noise reduction. The sump model was simplified in the 3D design software Creo and was then imported into the finite element software HyperMesh and AnsysWorkbench to establish the finite element model. The modal characteristics and transient response characteristics of oil sump under normal working conditions were further analyzed. According to the result of transient response, the sound power value was acquired. In the end, three kinds of schemes for noise reduction were put forward and verified. The simulation shows that all the three optimization schemes meet the requirements of noise reduction.
