Abstract

In order to solve the wear problem of piston pin hole
for a diesel engine, the FE and EHD methods were used to analyze the influence
of piston pin hole structure and profile matching on the contact stress and the
influence of different profiles on lubrication evaluating index. The results
show that the direct reason of scuffing problem is the worse lubrication
resulted by the mismatch between profile and thermal deformation. Accordingly,
homogeneous contact stress, good lubrication and low risk of scuffing can be
obtained by matching a reasonable profile for piston pin hole.
