Abstract

To establish a controloriented temperature model for SCR catalytic converter, four types of SCR catalyst temperature models were built and graphical calculation models were constructed using Matlab/Simulink according to the energy conservation and mass conservation equations and considering different heat transfer processes involved in thermal balance. The models were checked based on the measured data on a test bench under European Stationary Cycle (ESC) and European Transient Cycle (ETC) and evaluated based on the parameters of maximum dispersion degree, fitting degree and calculation time. The results show that the temperature model has a good prediction accuracy and realtime performance due to considering the convective heat transfer between the catalytic converter and the exhaust gas as well as the surrounding environment and therefore is more suitable for the SCR control strategy. 
