Viscosity is an important property of lubricating oil, and its viscosity-temperature characteristic is of great significance to carry out online monitoring of lubricating oil. To study the viscosity-temperature characteristics of lubricating oil, 6 types of lubricating oil commonly used in vehicle power and transmission system were selected as research objects. Firstly, the viscosity-temperature data of selected oil were measured by the experimental method, and the characteristics of lubricating oil viscosity changing with temperature were analyzed. Then the regression analysis method was used to evaluate the fitting accuracy and prediction error of existing viscosity-temperature equation for selected oil viscosity-temperature data. A new viscosity-temperature equation was finally established. The experimental results show that the improved viscosity-temperature equation is more accurate in describing the viscosity-temperature characteristics of selected oil at the temperature range of 10 ℃ to 120 ℃ compared to the existing viscosity-temperature equation, thus providing a new basis for online monitoring of lubricating oil.
