In order to meet the requirements of China Ⅵ b emission regulation, the comparison of three different ω-type combustion chambers were conducted based on the same China Ⅵ diesel engine under the same compression ratio. The effects of different combustion chamber characteristics on economy and emission were studied through the method of simulation and bench test. The results show that the combustion chamber with deep and large pit radius has poor specific fuel consumption, but less soot. The combustion chamber with shallow and small pit radius has poor soot performance, but acceptable specific fuel consumption. The combustion chamber with moderate pit depth and radius has better performance for both specific fuel consumption and soot. The China Ⅵ diesel engine designed and developed with this combustion chamber characteristic has good economy and emission performance.
