Based on a 1.5 L turbocharged gasoline engine, the effects of compressor characteristic parameters on engine transient performance at low speed and low load was studied. A steadystate simulation model was established and verified in GTPower and then a transient simulation model was constructed. The engine transient performance was studied using a constant speed and increase of torque method and three transient response indicators were established for analysis. By changing the distribution of compressor highefficiency zone in the highlow pressure ratio range and largesmall flow range and analyzing the transient performance evaluation index, the transient performance was optimized when the highefficiency zone lied in the highpressure ratio range. The transient response accelerated by 68% when the ratiochanged as 20% within this range. The results show that different distributions of compressor highefficiency zone in the highlow pressure ratio range and largesmall flow range can improve the transient performance of engine.
